Agreed. HTC has been using these same OMAP 200MHz processors for 3 or 4 generations of its phones already.

They must have a huge case of them to go through first or something? It's insane!

Regarding the name, how can they call it "Pharos" when it runs TomTom software? Are they a glutton for a lawsuit or something?

My guess is that this is an early prototype in the Touch Cruise development. Makes no sense to release this phone in 2008 with the specs listed.

Can't agree with you more there...XDA is fantastic.

But why HTC?!? I had so much respect for you until now!! Please, you must indulge me with your reasoning. Why must you take away what everyone wants? You know users are going to want 3G. You know we want Wifi. They aren't something that "most" of us would use once or twice a week. Is it too hard to throw in a faster processor and a bit more memory? Anyone who uses your products are most likely not going to be your average phone user. We want these features for a reason and cost normally has little to do with putting us off a product. Stop acting like you're the providers. We know everyone hates Verizon and AT&T and the others so stop thinking about it in terms of dollars and cents.

With the exception of maybe Nokia, you are the only manufacturer I would expect to release the "uber device". The "all things to all people" gadget. You've come so close lately but you continue to disappoint.

Now I'm going to go to my corner and cry a little.

and the touch dual has both a hard number pad and touch flo...so this certainly could use both if being thicker wouldn't hurt its self esteem around the newer thinner phones

taking away the 3G was lame. I may be the only one but when I have a handset that uses mobile internet via a service provider I never use the WiFi because chances are my plan is unlimited anyway and WiFi spots are too few and far between outside the coffee shop or my own home where if I am going to be using the internet it will be on my full PC

Actially i think that Pharos is a nice name for the thingee.

Pharos was the Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the seven wonders of the world.

So a phone with GPS (which guides your way as we all know)is quite a nice pun :)

HTC P3300 with less features and a new design. Should be cheap, and slow. Wonder why they took away Wi-Fi.
