I imagine this will be implemented in newer versionions of HDTV or whatever they will call it 3DHDTV. New shows, games and virtual tours , etc. I hope I live long enough to see this as the standard in the modern family home.

[I also wish I saw smart enough to go to MIT and brainstorm with this level of intelligence =( ]

The site is obviously a bit vague as to how they've done it- presumably they are creating an internal 3D representation of the room just based on the camera feed, which is a pretty impressive accomplishment. The scribbling part is just for show- this would be tremendously useful in 3D CAD. I could use this today for all kinds of stuff. Imagine an interior designer walking around an empty room with this and dropping furniture into the scene- all without any measuring or modeling.

I would love to see a version of this used with the PSP and the camera attachment. Having a living room shooter with augmented reality would marry the interactivity of the Wii with the portability of the PSP.
