But there was NO WAY I was gonna drop the kind of cash they wanted for these things, so I built my own out of an old clock, a lamp, a wall dimmer switch, and a 3.5" floppy drive (alarm from the clock drives the stepper motor on the floppy which slowly moves the dimmer knob making the light gradually brighter- instant sunrise!)(well, not instant- that's kinda the point...)

Initially, I bought it to enhance the lighting when I'm working on various crafts, but I find myself using it quite a bit for other tasks too. I used to want some sort of therapy light and I'm satisfied that this does the trick. I found my little lamp at [www.Michaels.com] craft store and plan to get a second one.

I use the regular Verilux lights; they help the room seem brighter, like sunlight, and help with eyes that ache. I highly recommend them. I'm thinking about purchasing a verilux SAD lamp, myself.

We just had our first child and with her staying at home breastfeeding all the time, she was getting a little...cagey. Now she uses the GoLite in the mornings when she feeds, and she's much less tense at the end of the day.

Money well spent, imo.
