I absolutely love the sony ericsson Xperia and its core features. For the longest time, I have been feeling that SE doeesn't get enough recognition. Their phones are always ahead of their time and are packed with the best features and quality stuff yet they are never in mainstream media like apple and others. They need to be put under the spotlight for their hard work!

For those wondering what aGPS is:

aGPS is "Assisted GPS". Basically that means that it communicates both with GPS satellites and your carrier's data network to more rapidly/accurately pinpoint your location.

This is useful for when the aGPS device is in an area that is covered by the cellular network, but cannot easily contact the GPS satellites (think tall buildings). The assistance server is able to determine where the device is based on cell tower location and fragmentary signals.

@Manos_Lijeros: I think thats something we all can agree on.
My T-mobile wing i wont say is the best in the world but after reseting it i've gotten a 20% increase in performance. I wouldn't buy a Tilt for the simple fact that its the slowest out of all of the new series of MDA's of HTC nd it has the best tech. specs.
I'd buy this phone and i probably am going to end up buying it in June. Hopefully it comes out for T-mobile in June along with that 3G network we're all waiting on. Hopefully the 3G is out by June =/
It has a gorgeous screen like the side kick LX but the sharp screen is way better than that screen.
Lets see how it does. Maybe it'll become the sidekick for those who cant stand having a sidekick or for those who want a WM phone for just aim.

SneakerFiend

I'm wondering if the keyboard is backlit, and what the hell aGPS means. Is it worse than normal GPS??? If it is, I may not get this phone and stick with my HTC TyTn II. The only main reason I want this phone and selling mine is the gorgeous 3" screen with the awesome resolution, the headphone jack, the (probably smaller and lighter) design, the 3d games (Damn you HTC for no driver support) and the higher resolution camera (FM radio is nice, but I wouldn't use it, and I have my Zune 80 for that)

Crazysamz

I think this is in a different line to the P series so therefore not a p1 succesor.
Also the p51 is semi-confirmed to have different feature set and remain on UIQ(again confirming that these are for different demographics)

Also the X series is not tied down to an OS according to reports, so the next X series may well just be UIQ again or something else.

IMO, this phone isn't too different to the p1i apart from the OS and screen resolution.

DagMX

Are you serious, "Screw this thing, guys," because the windows mobile phone has a windows mobile dial pad?

Maybe you weren't aware, WM lets users install stuff on their phones, like custom dial pads.

Nice skin on top of Windows, but it really bothers me when engineers or marketers talk about putting a "user experience" on top of their products.
User experience isn't something you paint on afterwards, it is the entire experience of using the product, from the way the keys feel, to every part of the OS, to the quality of the speaker.

I did appreciate the thought that went into placing the icons in an arc for one-handed use. The human hand was meant for that kind of movement, something the iPod click wheel designers understood, but which was lost in the iPhone.

One good design decision does not make a product, however. Looks like more corporate compromises from Sony Ericsson.

permissionmag

It's interesting though that it has actually come to a point where dialing isn't a feature worth showing anymore.

Is this slated to be the successor to the P1? I have to say that I love my P1 although it is missing a few items that I think this phone addresses: Quad Band and GPS. Other than that I would say that the P1 comes near to perfection as a phone. This one also looks to be about the same size as the P1 judging by how it fits in the hand, which is nice. Too bad it runs windows mobile; although with the numbers of 3rd party apps available for windows mobile, it may be a step in the right direction. I love the Symbian OS, however UIQ3 has been severely lacking in the available applications. I have owned every phone in the p-series (except for the P990 opting instead for a M600 then a Blackjack) and all have been exceptional phones, this one looks not to disappoint as well.

skurtis.1
