Wow, some high horses here! I'm a 40 year old male and use Wii sports as a sole workout program. Primarily I use the boxing on it and though you may find it hard to believe because you seem to know it all, I've lost 8 LBS in 2 weeks and love the interaction with the game. So, Wii fitness is something looked forward to in many online communities like traineo.com so do your research before you desparage huh? Crazy idea but you might learn something.

robb674

I will reserve judgment as to whether or not this thing will get kids off their collective butts and do anything that resembles exercise until there are a few games that take advantage of it. That said, I think it is great that Nintendo is at least *trying* to provide a platform that could encourage people to not be couch potatoes.

dicknervous

I think I know why it is being released at a later date in the US. Its because they need to reinforce the entire thing internally with titanium. Japan and Europe can get away with the plastic version. But in the US we demand the very best for our Chubby children. Besides they need to test it for buttocks and lying down which they wont have to test for in other markets.

Its like clapping your hands for tobacco companies for including nicotine patches with a pack of smokes.

@imTheKing: ...Cough....Cough....remember the NES Fitness Pad? I had many-a-friend who was slightly chubby. Their parents bought 'em that bad boy. And then something happened.

That's right. They never used it "correctly". The would pound the damn thing with their hands...then stop....then pound it again (I think it was a long jump event).

Really the damn thing never did a thing, and the thought process from the 'rents perspective seems to be the same vein on this thing. Hell, they are calling it "fit". If it's not designed for exercise, they may want to rename it.

I actually laughed about the track/fitness pad while I was typing this. Much props to my boy, "Tank." Tank was a huge kid in middle school. He's now a chef, and is a svelte weight. Kudos. It can happen. Just not by a video game.

Jsembower

@imTheKing: @tanderson79:
The guy who created the game itself has already stated that it's got no value as an exercise regimen ([tinyurl.com]). Besides, have you noticed the YOGA figure on the front? The 'game' isn't going to have you do anything too strenuous (which might actually be worth your time) because Nintendo doesn't want to get their pants sued off when you tip over and smash your head on your coffee table, or crap your pants (yes, yoga poses can MAKE you poop).

What regimen do I endorse? Get your ass off the couch and get outside for some flag football or playing with your dog or go for a bike ride. When it comes to exercise, analog>digital any day of the week. And yes, unless you modify them in some way, sit-ups are ab-solutely (pun intended) useless.

wizardofpants
