I too am in NY (Buffalo) but I'd love to see a tall mountain after getting a taste of Lake Placid this past January. Also, Heavenly and Kirkwood are where I solidified my transition from skiing to boarding back when. If it's first week of April, posssssibly, I'll be on the west coast anyway. I am a poor, poor man, though, so all I gots is my cfw fat psp and treo 700...

What if you get manufacturers to get some duplicates of the gear out to eval group areas (NE, CO, UT, NW, CA) and teams eval over a virtual meeting (while we are all skiing) uploading video at the same time?

I'll help with Seattle... Stevens and Crystal have connectivity on the slope, just give us a day...

Brian - if the Tahoe thing does work out, you should make advance plans pre-ski season for a couple trips next year - one in VT, one in CA, one in CO and one in the PNW. Betcha if people had a few months to plan, you'd get a decent turnout at each locale.

@aph3x: I throw my vote towards Mt. Rose too. Northstar is a bad idea though. Way to expensive and you will end up spending more time on the lifts and walking through the parking than you will skiing.

BLam - I was just out there in Tahoe this past weekend; skied Heavenly and Homewood.

Heavenly: amazing views of Lake Tahoe and NV, big (but can be crowed), $78 for a weekend lift ticket
Homewood: views are even nicer of Lake Tahoe!, smaller than Heavenly (but not nearly as crowed), $53 for a weekend lift ticket.

If I had a choice, I would be back at Homewood in a heartbeat. My $0.02.

If we do it at Alpine I could probably borrow a Recco device from Ski Patrol to demonstrate how that system works. Could probably do a tour of the high and low tech gadgets that the mountain uses for ski patrol, first aid and weather monitoring.
