Oh, and while these ads are, indeed, funny, I tend to do my best not to buy products whose entire ad campaigns consist of telling uses how much their competition sucks. If your product is truly so fantastic you should have no need to bash your competition to sell it. I'm in sales for a living, representing a large printer manufacturer. As though it even needed to be said, one of the most important things we're trained on is to never bash the competition. I give them the respect they deserve, meanwhile I prove why my product is better. If you can't do that, then clearly your product's not superior.

It's like Hyundai promoting their Azera (PC) on the same level as BMW's 7 Series (Mac). Just because it's got the leg room like a BMW doesn't make it comparable to BMW, even if you're saving $30,000.

I just installed Windows on my Mac in order to play a game to pass the time and have been less than impressed. It's random crash-to-blue-screens and restarts don't help the situation. The operating system all around is more confusing with disastrous organization, or lack there of, and hideous interface. Windows has nothing going for it.

So I'd much rather drive the BMW than the Hyundai- if that makes me a fanboy or gay or whatever, then so be it.

And as for the commercials not working, just do a search for the last two years of how much market share Apple has gained. The numbers don't lie, even if you think their commercials do. They may be annoying and dated- but they're obviously getting the job done.

The Mice that come with macs now have two-buttons. Have for a while. You just click on the right side of the mouse if you want to right click (like holding control is that hard).

There are also a lot of programs that are exclusive to mac os x, or work much better on mac's os. Handbrake is one example, Mojo is another. Two programs I could not live without. Besides, if I really HAD to, I could boot up windows on my mac. Not sure why anyone would ever want to though. Wouldn't want to expose my gay computer to a some sort of fag-dragging redneck virus.

A computer shouldn't be a fashion accessory, people who buy macs more often than not seem to be making a fashion statement, "look Im so cool in a gay kind of way cause I have a mac".

I love my PC because it's a real computer and much more functional and I generally have very few problems with windows.

I mean how many programs can macs actually run anyway - like 3 and what the hell is up with just having one mouse button?

The thing about Creative players, and this is key: you don't have to use their software at all if you don't like it. And not by using some crazy exploit or questionable software off the internet. It syncs from Media Player. Or from other software. Whatever you like, really.

I'm new to commenting, so I'll take this opportunity to put in my two sense about Apple/Microsoft fanboys. Judging from the comments and people I run into every day, 95% of people, whether Apple or Windows users, are reasonable and generally dispassionate about their computers. They can prefer a machine without being snooty.

Then you have that 5%, made up of people like MINI Driver, who stick out like a sore thumb. I automatically associate Apple with smug, arrogant people like that despite my experience showing most Apple users, and even fans, are reasonable. These people would do their cause a lot of good if they'd just STFU once in a while.

The simple fact is WinTel boxes are priced and sold as commodity items for people who can bend a PC to their will, while Apple systems are for people who demand a more seamless environment (and are willing to pay for the priviledge).

That's not to say Vista isn't more OS than most people need or want (Win2k is generallt sufficient). And...OS X was built on an existing OS while Vista was built from the ground up.

If that's the case, then what they should know is that just like in politics they only work for a while, and then there's an inevitable backlash by people who get tired of the FUD. Just look at all the comments by Mac owners who say that they're getting tired of it. After a while, who WANTS to be associated with smugness? It's not religion, for crying out loud....

And I completely agree that neither Microsoft nor Apple is perfect in any capacity. Any well-founded criticism against them is completely fair game, in my opinion. I don't, however, condone pointless diatribes devoid of any substance. Comments like "Apple sucks, yawn....." or "apples are peer pressure in material form! (awk phrasing, tru fact!!!)"-such comments reek of immaturity.

I can't remember the last time a discussion on this topic was conducted objectively. For some reason that I cannot comprehend, people LOVE to get fired up at the "Mac vs PC" battle.

Now I'm no political scientist (I'm 15 for God's sake), but I think it all comes down to a basic human desire to be on the "winning team". I can't speak for everyone, but have hopes that one day, we can move past these silly and meaningless tirades and onward to better, more substantial conversations.

What Microsoft knows and understands is that they don't need to bash apple to maintain their overwhelming market share. Despite the millions and millions that apple has dumped into this ridiculous and tired ad campaign is very, very little inroad into MS's dominant market share. These ads are now doing the opposite: justin long, the 'apple' is a douchebag while john hodgman is cool and the one people want to hang out.

The iPod and iPhone ads are SOOO much better. I am somewhat of a "fanboy" (if you want to call it that) but these ads just plain SUCK. If Apple were to stop airing these annoying, smug, arrogant commercials, maybe more people would start buying their products. Before I bought my iMac, I repeatedly told myself that I wouldn't buy from a Mac purely on principle. (Then I bought an iPhone, and I was convinced otherwise).

Advice to Apple: Instead of basing your entire advertising campaign on how much Windows sucks, try talking about ways in which OS X is superior.

guy 2 - hi, i'm all "new agey" and like to show people that i am an individual. it's expensive to assert one's individuality, and apple prices my soul anywhere between 1100 and 1500 dollars, but to really streamline my technologically-aware and easy-on-the-eyes aesthetic, i could throw away 2100-2500 for a metal case that everyone in my neighborhood has-the truth being that their metal computer-thingies make me feel bad about myself, and kind of made me question who i was, so i chose one too!

pc all teh way. and vista aint bad either. stupid apple people, go express yourself using apple's creative software suite, and take all those crazy risks so you can make it out there, if anyone decides that your crappy re imagination of some already-existing genre of crap, you can say you made it, and that your soul has completely left the realm of humanity.
