Ah, right, I remember watching it get destroyed by the MUPpets! I'm pretty sure I saw you display an updated version somewhere else, but I might just be remembering photos from an event I didn't attend (probably Brickworld). And yes, I did have a few BIONICLE TMNT characters, but I had a lot more SW characters. These days I mostly do Batman stuff, as I can actually fit that stuff into a MichLTC display. Kids love it, but they keep pointing at Batgirl and the two Bat-bots and calling them "Batman". I'm hoping to be able to attend Brickworld with 48 unique Batman minifigs (50 if I can score a copy of the Hammer Truck), plus the two Bat-bots, and a few custom vehicles (because nearly every official Batcraft blows).

Yes, and a very definitive no. While you can use LEGO Digital Designer software to design sets you can then purchase directly from the company, the part availability isn't nearly robust enough to handle something like this, especially given the liberal use of uncommon colors like sand-green and dark-red. Oh, and all of the water-slide decals he used to make the minifigs, and stickers used on the PE ship and all the billboards. Now if the building/ship were black, and all the minifigs were train engineers...maybe it'd be doable.

Sand-green is as close as you're ever going to get without forming your own parts from bootleg molds. There are a couple of really obscure colors that would look better, but the part selection in those colors is crap, and they stopped producing a lot of the rare colors a couple years back. That's part of why I've never even attempted to make a minifig-scale Planet Express ship, since there just isn't enough variety of parts to make something with a complex shape like that would require, unless you make it in regular green. I'm amazed that he even managed to scrape up enough parts to make the ship in that scale.

He's in there, but he's very, very tiny. About the same size as a standard minifig head.

I played with LEGO back in the day (I'm 34), put them away for a while. Then, on a whim, I bought one of the Star Wars ships (just a little one) a couple of years ago and put it together. That was the MOST FUNNEREST thing I had done in a long time. There is nothing like it. My mom (who loves her gay son) bought me a bigger ship last year (Y-Wing), and was BUMMED that I put it together myself: she wanted to play, too. So, Nintendo dued, here is a valuable life lesson I will pass on to you: enjoy your life on your terms. If you don't want to play with LEGO because you don't want to, that's fine. If you don't want to play with LEGO because you are worried about what other people will think, you're a dumbass.

Has a suicide machine. Matt, like many of us, likes to throw in subtle in-jokes. His Mos Eisley diorama has the Slave Leia minifig doing a pole-dance in the Cantina, his Gungan Sub/Opee Sea Killer combo have a strip of sea-life base connecting them with Spongebob minifigs cavorting amongst all the coral and seaweed, and this one has an otherwise-unmarked booth that says "25c" on the side. If you know the show, you get it. If you don't, you probably won't even notice.

Wow. Sounds like you don't understand the hobby at all. A lot of Adult LEGO fans are married and have families, but of the dozens I've met I can't remember a single one who used the kids as a cover story for their own hobby. If you ever see one of the many LEGO clubs putting on a display, you'll see that the models alone are excuse enough. Whenever my club's doing a show, people come up to us all the time and ask us if it's _really_ all 100% LEGO (yes, even the train tracks), and comment that they didn't think it was possible to build like that. Traditional model railroad clubs hate us because we tend to suck all of the show attendees away from them, but show coordinators love us because they can actually advertise our appearance and significantly increase the number of people who will show up. People that I work with used to express opinions similar to yours, but then I started showing a video I took by strapping my camera to a train car when we did our biggest display ever at the National Train Show last year, and all the snide comments stopped.

Now, Matt mostly builds Star Wars stuff, so he'd have a hard time finding venues to display his stuff if he wasn't part of NILTC, but even given the very train-centric feel of the National Train Show, his models were very popular, especially his 100% original UCS-scale Millennium Falcon (slightly larger than the official set, and it actually has detailed interior sections).

Dude! MichLUG/MichLTC here. And you? A couple years ago we donated a small train display for the local Festival of Trees (which raises money for Children's Hospital of Detroit), and about half a year a family approached us during an outdoor event and said they were the raffle winners, they still had all the models intact, and they set them up under the tree each Christmas.

Are you referring to the large curvy pieces on the ship? They've been around for a few years, and those specific pieces are part of the wing housings from Boba Fett's Slave I a couple years ago. And the only single-use part is the one you haven't tried to find a second use for. I happen to love the new curve-wedges and curve-slopes.

Umm... pretty sure that's a brainslug, not Hypno-toad. And my one complaint about the set is that the Professor and Kif's heads don't look right as standard lego-heads. Plus, Hermes doesn't look nearly fat enough, and Bender just looks like crap. Which is funny, because you'd think Lego would be a natural medium for Bender-creation.

The ship looks pretty sweet. It looks like there are some pieces on it that are either custom or a Lego piece that I have never seen like the front single piece on the top and bottom. Looks like single purpose pieces for this or maybe custom made.

A very harmless hobby, and likely keeps him out of bars or other situations that might prove threatening to a serious relationship. @Daimyo Nintendo: I'm 28 and an AFOL (Adult Fan of LEGO). There are plenty of us out there with SNLOs (Significant Non-LEGO Others) by our sides who have no problems with us playing with our 'Toys'. In fact, most if not all of them are supportive rather than annoyed with our hobby. And, not that I need to prove anything to you, but my gal is hot. And as far as being beneficial to society goes, we host around 15 shows per year (just one group of hundreds like mine, mind you) where families and people of all ages can come out for a pleasant afternoon enjoying something pure and good. We easily bring in several thousand people per show. Many of our shows benefit local or national charities as well. Next time do a little research before you flame an entire community.

Oh, and can I have those LEGO bins in your basement? I can always use more... :)

I LOVE LEGO ok I LOVE IT but…Oh god, what kind of life do you lead if you spend this much time on a fucking Lego set? I loved Lego (I still do) but I am 24 and at this age its kind of unacceptable for an adult to play with toys (unless I work at the Lego company.) All my Lego sets are in plastic storage bins in the basement for.. I don't know… I guess if I have kids one day. No self-respecting woman would ever date a man who played with Lego's. This guy is either single for the rest of his life or his wife is insurmountably cool and ugly. If only people like this put their time and efforts towards something that will contribute positively to society we would have a better world. But when you have douche bags wasting fucking time on painting fucking Lego sets, you kind of turn out to be the biggest douche in the world, no matter how cool some nerds and geeks think it is….they are still only nerds and geeks. But hey if your looking for compliments from nerds and geeks, then my Lego building friend you have found it and you can die happy :D

Regarding the slurm
Fox to market slurm, well ill never touch it, its by Fox (I refuse to watch their TV channels.) Would you really drink something marketed by Fox? Next thing you know it like Pepsi Zero, going to start giving people seizures...hell I have not drank pop or a soda drink in 5 years and I hope to make that 30 or more.
