The article does not state what kind of beads she is using. If she uses tens of thousands, then, probably, acrylic beads (Unless she can afford or is sponsored by Swaroski).

The effect in the beads you suggest actually exists in the market, Swaroski call it "aurora boreale" and basicaly is a shinny outer coat applied to some sides of the beads.

Cheaper beads with this "aurora boreale" effect are available in the market, but the cheaper you go, the cheaper it will look.
