A DJ turntable for scratching and a turntable for digitizing your record collection have pretty different requirements.

The current gold standard for digitizing vinyl is a high-end turntable-arm-cartridge->phono stage plugged into a Korg DSD recorder, with each LP first run through a vacuum record cleaner. I wonder if there are traders of the resulting files. Why bother digitizing your own vinyl collection if someone else has done a better job?

skierpage

I'm going to violate my cardinal law (assume nothing) and presume that the platter is actually glass and the screws are countersunk. Either that or this comes with a mat of some sort. There's no way they would make this thing with a plastic platter and round head screws poking out of its surface...would they?

Aside from that...I wonder how much the overhanging platter would throw off skratching. Pssssh, no one's buyin' this for skratching.

deusdiabolus

Its not a real Dj turntable unless it has direct drive and not belt drive. Can't really tell from the photo but it almost looks like it has a gear to drive the turntable. Wonder how it would hold up in the club mixing JZ's American Ganster?

riqgeez

Very cool, I still buy vinyl when I can find it. Digital music is great but there is something about that crackling and distortion that only analog can produce, I love it.

"analog reel and a little distortion, scorchcin so hot you can say I'm smokin."

Daimyo Nintendo

I bought a turntable about 3 years ago with pitch control (the strobe light thingy). Then my old receiver died and needed to replace it-- but nothing now has a phono input, so I bought a separate phono amp to pass it to my sound system. The amp also had a PC audio output for ripping. Pretty cool. Still works great.

Sora57
