@crumb: The powersquid is great, but the problem is that the cheap one is only a power strip and not a surge protector. The expensive one is about twice as much as this.

I like it when companies get competitive, but nothing beats my PowerSquid. I have yet to find a reason to regret purchasing it.

Why would you want the plug to come out the top? It should come out of any of those half-moons on the bottom. Then I would make a circular cover for all the warts. You could then run all your cords up to the desk in one tube and the power cord would go to the wall.
