Battery dead, no recharging happening 6 ft under. Phone service cut off, or tracable if calls are being made or text's being sent. Simply call the phone back, go to the cemetary and listen for it.
If ghosts ro whatever some people claim this is, can just use a dead phone with no service, then why need the phone at all? Anybody burried anywhere at any time can call or sms then right?
This has got more holes in it than a cell phone microphone (had to pun something).
And speaking of this, I am soooo tired of these stupid shows on tv trying to show haunted places.
Take away the dark of night, the old crappy house, the nerved up occupants, the myth and mood, mow the damn lawn and what do you have? Nothing, just a mowed field in the day time with absolutely no ghosts, same as it was in the dark when the house stood there.

The phone was buried in an area where the ground happens to have high electrical charge, due to unique impurities in the local soil. This charged up the phone's battery, then the moisture from an unusually heavy rain shorted out part of the eprom, which just happened, as luck would have it, connected the phone to an internal phone company testing number. Then as the ground moisture seeped into the memory, it activated the text messaging to the number last dialed in the phone's memory [hubby's number], and the shorting keypad sent a series of random characters, like "yr wfe mded nd i<3u mch", which the human consciousness is programmed to interpret as a sequence of lolcat-style message.
