There are two sides to the argument that the light should come from the flash area.

1. If it did, it would look and act much more like a camera. In which case, everyone would assume its a real camera and ask why the hell its set up constantly in the living room, and be worried you were attempting some kind of ledgerdermain or skullduggery via the camera.

2. With the light coming out of the lens area, obviously the lamp does not look or act like a real camera, but more like a lamp in sheep's clothing. So, while not factually accurate, at least people will say "cool lamp" as opposed to "what's up with the camera in the living room, you sicko."

Side note, I love it, as well as the rest of the room its staged in. When can I move in?

I love it, as a professional photographer I'd definitely buy it. To bosskev, it is still a concept, you seem to take it way too literally. I think folks at Transparent House created a beautiful presentation for a super stylish, sexy product...It is rather inspiring.

Then you're in luck! Their as-yet unannounced partner product is a Kodak Instamatic duct-taped into a Luxo lamp head. Also, of course, still in the concept stage, needing several weeks to be rendered first as a 3D animation.

@Lorne: Indeed. I understand the prototype was an Ansel Adams-style 8x10 view camera with a penlight wedged into the bellows, but now they are baffled as to how to proceed.

Of course it's only a concept. The technical difficulties involved in jamming a light fixture into an old camera are practically insurmountable.

Ridiculous. I mean, it might have made aesthetic sense (and it would never make practical sense) if the light had come out of, say, a pseudo-flash unit attached to the top of the pseudo-camera. But, light pouring out of a camera lens? This screams of a random idea being presented as high art.
