It's especially hard to proof oneself if you're working on a long project, because your eye tends to miss a lot of stuff that you've read and re-read many times over. Short bits of text are much easier. I've always done a better job of proofing when I've used hardcopy and red pen, too (sorry, trees!) -- it's something about getting into the editing mindset.

I share Jesus' opinion on the device, for what it's worth, but I also agree with the consensus that a little proofing could go a long way for -=every=- Giz writer. As I've said before, though, room needs to be left for some artistic license. If creativity became stomped-on by academic rigor, Giz would seem very flat, lifeless and uninteresting.

Take the guitar for instance. You are basically mastering two things at once. The musical part and the physical part. How many of us have owned a kazoo (or whatever they are called) in our lifetime. You will not find too many top forty songs with it used, but it certainly was extremely popular, regardless. So, who knows. It is highly unlikely, but anything is possible, I guess.

I absolutely think there is a huge potential market for anyone that can come up with a way for untrained musicians to make music. I think it's quite likely that there are people who are too uncoordinated or lazy to commit to mastering the significant technical skills required for instrument play who nevertheless would still excel at composing and playing music on a much simpler device than a piano or guitar. In fact, there may come a time when such a device makes traditional instrument mastery obsolete.

Unfortunately this product does not appear to be "the one".
