Air above is much cooler than the air on the ground. 150+ knots of wind blowing 30-50 degree air = not fun.

Now take that modified 747 and replace the opaque bubble with a clear one, you'd get to see all the blue you could hope for.

They still make them now, even, if the need calls for it. National Geographic has them custom made for their photographers so they don't have to shoot through windows. The only limit is that they do have to fly fairly slowly in order to avoid sweeping everyone out or just whipping their necks back.
