New apps are effectively sandboxed and have no access to mess with existing apple installed apps unless they provide some hooks into them (which so far don't exist).

Also, right now its kinda rough to develop cause the SDKs thus far have been unstable or just plain don't support the entire documented API. Also, most of us developers who applied to pulish apps are still waiting to get "in" the program. I'm pressing ahead as best I can, but I know people who are on hold til the SDK matures, or they get reassurance that their development time is worth while because they haven't been "accepted" into the program yet.

I hope they cure some of the iphones worst problems--no syncing of notes in Outlook, unable to categorize contacts when synching with Outlook, no spreadsheet program or finance calculator apps that work offline. The iphone has it's pluses, but there are some major fixes that I hope these apps will bring.
