Harmony 550 - Over here at work playing with my coworkers 880 who got it for under 100 out the box from a deal on AMAZON... Kicking myself cause i paid 100 for the 550 but its still within the 30 days so i am hoping to find the 880 for the same price on someones website.....

SUPERCHARGED.... YES IT WORKS ON THE 360 ( dayummmm it works ohhh soooooo good and MEDIA CENTER>>...... OK im done.) As for the PS3 you have to buy an adapter for it ( Co-worker is PS# owner I am 360)

I had a Harmony 890, but that thing was so slow... I can't wait to flip channels... Now I'm using a Pronto Pro. Best device I've seen yet. Time consuming as all hell to program and get looking just the way you want it, but once you get it there... it's perfect. As for all of the remotes in our house... I couldn't give you a straight number. Somewhere over 50, if you counted each and every one.

One. A Universal Remote MX-350. It's bottom-of-the-line but completely replaces all other remotes. There's a reason why home theater integrators tend to use Universal Remotes.

My Tivo remote controls most of what I need, so I hardly touch the others. But, there are some TV functions it won't do, not will it control anything but cable and TV.

Including the roomies, I think the total is around 12.

@Superchargedgtp: I recently saw a gadget that seems explicitly designed to allow you to control a PS3 with a Harmony remote. It "reads" the IR from the remote, and converts it to the Bluetooth the PS3 is expecting (IIRC off the top of my head -- don't remember what it's called or even who makes it, unfortunately). I've been looking at getting a PS3, and I would definitely need to get one of these, because I need to keep using my Harmony 880. (Until I get a Harmony One!)

I've also got the Harmony 880, and the single most important reason to have a Harmony remote is that removes the single biggest blocker to getting your girlfriend to play videogames.

I got a harmony too but it just doesn't do enough (and sometimes the buttons feel laggy versus the original remotes).

Well...I put down 7-8 but I think I have more than 11. Let's see:

HT system (exact same remote as the far right one in the pic)

Projector (love this one. Sensor is so strong. Seems like omni directional infrared or something cuz it works everywhere)

If only my Series3 TiVo remote could change the input on my awesome Onkyo stereo. But alas, I have to keep the Onkyo remote around. It changed the input on my HDTV before I had a receiver, but now I have another extraneous remote.

I also have a DVD remote for when I use Netflix instead of Amazon Unbox :)

Oh wait, I have an ipod remote for my bedroom too. That's still only 4, for a fairly high tech apartment.

I think most people on here are going to put 11 or more. I have 6 downstairs (TV, Xbox 360, HD-DVD, A/V receiver, CD changer, Media Center HTPC) but do not use them, I have a Niles Intellicontroller that controls these devices, along with lighting and air conditioning. I have an Xbox in the basement with the DVD kit and an XIR for power On-Off (I am apparently too picky when i require my devices be turned on via remote) and upstairs I have a TV with remote and Xbox 360 with remote. I am not using a universal upstairs (yet).

I have a Logitech Harmony One and I absolutely love it. While it is a little expensive at $250, it has absolutely changed the way I use electronics. For example, pressing the "Watch TV" button on the touchscreen turns on my TV, my receiver, my cable box, and adjusts the volume. If I press "listen to music", it shuts everything else off and turns on Front Row on my iMac!!

It's a Sony uber-remote I got a few years back as a gift and it's great.

I have 1 Harmony remote 880 downstairs for my home theatre and one Sony RM-AX4000A (brick) for my bedroom. I think the Sony sucks but it's easy to find in bed when things get crazy. The 880 is a great remote and easy to use.

To everyone... I don't think they were asking about other types of remote controls. But if they are, I don't use a whole lot of remotes that came with each electronic peice of equipment I own including my creative speakers on my computer, my windows media TV remote, my 2 car remote controls for my house, my ceiling fan remote controls, my remote controls to the 5 remote control cars me and my kids own, my remote to my remote control plane, etc... we could go on and on! Geeezzzz.

Sorry, Sean, but you get a big D- with this poll. :) It seemed clear to me that the poll was asking how many remotes total are in our home. But, many are answering based on the one remote they use. I have '11 or more', but we only use one remote, so that really will effect the voting quite dramatically without clarity.

Way too many remotes. that is until I got a Harmony 880. However one of my dogs got over excited and chewed up my 880 a couple of weeks ago so I was forced to get myself a new Harmony "One".

I don't think the wiimote counts since it doesn't really emit infrared. In fact it's actually the opposite. And I wouldn't count the Bluetooth capability as remote.

Have or use? Like Graffiksguru I also roll with the Harmony. The Advanced IR/RF one. GD thing rocks. From taking care of the plasma that is framed so it has to be run RF to IR and run up, to lighting control via zwave. If I could have it start my Volcano Vap id be happier. And I think thats an option.

@Illusive: Good question. It looks like a remote, so it fits from that perspective. But it is used for videogames, which means it maybe should not. I think this is more of a philosophical question that you will need to explore.

Another question: How many remotes do the commenters here force your family to use at your 'entertainment center'? In theory, everyone in Giz land should have a single remote, but I suspect there are a few that have not completely plunged into eradicating the 5,000 remotes throughout their home.

I included Apple Remotes, one for my iMac and one for my MacBook. But without that, it's 4. However, I bought the Logitech Universal Remote for Xbox 360. I use that to control the TV, DVR, Audio Receiver and Xbox 360. Here's a tip: I found it about $20-30 cheaper at GameStop than it was priced everywhere else.
