Ben Heck's Latest Wonder Project: PS3 Laptop

To Akmed -- in regards to the comment about it not being as useful as the normal PS3, if the Wizard (as I call him anyway) did this like the Xbox 360 Elite laptop, he added a liquid cooling system to compensate for the reduction of size and vents and addition of more heat accumulating surface sheet metal. He truly is a master at what he does.

As to the questions about his selling or mass-marketing his frankenstein gaming laptops - his website and many posts all quietly answer that question. These projects are normally one-offs due to the time (usually 4 - 6 months) and the price (you don't even want to know!)

As for the placing of the PS3 guts into a 360 controller, he has stated that if presented with an innovative enough idea and a backer who is willing to fairly remunerate him for his genius, he will consider it. My words, not his.

I am not a spokesman for Ben Heck nor do I know him, simply a big fan who has read lots of his posts!

I think he did a great job on this. Technically it's not a laptop though. I wouldn't put that thing on my lap. Table-top: sure. Also, the design is OK, nothing reminiscent of the PS3 hardware, except for the black. But he is a true talent, as I don't think anyone could do much better.

What? No Playstation Eye? No Mouse? I'm not discrediting this guy, but if he can put a power supply into a laptop case with a 360, and also somehow make a keyboard work with it, he should be able to put a trackpad and camera/microphone into it.

My thoughts exactly! This is actually a possibility as far as production could go through Sony in that it would work as a powerful laptop. What a concept, a true convergence between console and computer (+portability).
