The only thing that is 'great' about the iPhone/iPod Touch is the interface for the web browser. Sure, the UI on the phone as a whole is intuitive, but at times it's inefficient as hell. The only place it truly shines is the browser.

Now, if they were to make a 7 to 9 inch multitouch beast, open it up completely to developers, and quit trying to pick my pocket everytime something gets improved-- I'd get one or two just for kicking back in an easy chair and browsing the web.

@richard8a: Dude, what you are MORE concerned with is power consumption RATE. Keeping that in mind, the accelerometer inside the iPhone consumers very little battery power on a time average basis. Rather, the power whores in this thing are playing music thru the speakers at full volume and Youtube. It's accelerometer, like the ones in Macbook's and Macbook Pro's, is very efficient.

If you're constantly querying the accelerometer to get readings, that's going to KILL battery life. Sorry, that's not worth it to me. I'd rather not run through half my battery just to go jogging.

@Sleeper_Service: Yawn.....You didn't happen to read "dothedrewtoo"'s comment, did you? The iPhone has an inbuilt accelerometer. What does that mean in relation to this Nike+ shit? It means this: Come June, a developer could EASILY release a program (free or not) that applies an integral function to the accelerometer's output, calculating my instantaneous velocity which could easily be used to measure how far I've run and the distance I've run. No power hungry GPS service coming into play, no third party shit necessary.

It doesn't have to since I use Sports Tracker from Nokia which works by using GPS to measure exactly how far you ran, your speed versus distance, etc. All without having to cough up for a third party peripheral.

Incidentally, one question mark is generally considered to be perfectly adequate.

Re: the "Printer" text:
Don't forget how OS X handles printing. You don't just print to printers, you can print to file, print to PDF, etc. So, it might not necessarily be used to print to a network printer (although, I'm sure that's a fairly decent possibility), but I could see "printing" to a PDF that is immediately put in an email so you can email it to yourself or others for desktop printing later.

You have a right to use a device on any network. They are not allowed to prevent you from doing so. They just have a loophole in the fact that any bricking that occurs from updates NOT INTENDED to brick up a phone are allowed. Take a vote, im pretty sure its obvious that apple is attempting to brick iphones. More likely make it juuuuust difficult to unlock to avoid widespread non-AT&T adoption.

GPS: You're getting 3G (presumably if rumors are true), 32GB of space (again a rumor), WiFi, and a touchscreen interface. If you want to add GPS as well, don't be surprised when your iPhone costs $800.

Apple should add basic functionality. It should not add the kitchen sink if it will cause the handset to be outrageously priced.

The iPhone is in part designed to cut into Blackberry's and Treo's business. When T-Mobile is charging $250 for the Curve, adding features that will push the price even higher than the current $500 price tag hampers that goal.

I can't believe the iPhone didn't have A2DP before this.. but water under the bridge.. it's a good thing it's coming. I'm hoping that this means Apple will bring out some nice first-party BT headphones. All the ones that are out there are pretty crappy. The one I like the best at the moment is actually the BT3030 which lets you use your own earphones. If Apple can come up with something innovate and elegant (as they usually do) I'll buy 'em.

As for the GPS, that'd be nice. Really nice, actually. The Nike+ integration would be interesting, but I imagine it would appeal to few - of the percentage of iPhone users who run regularly I imagine it's even a smaller percentage who want to run with their phone. I'm guessing it's not hardware integrated, just a snippet of code to make it compatible with the existing device.

I like the Nike concept, and I'm interested to where they'll go with it. I can see if they doing this right making the gym and running alot easier, at least as far goes keeping track of what you've done.

Bluetooth... I've been wanting bluetooth headphones for a while now, it'd be great to finnaly see that supported.
