How many versions of Windows Mobile did it take to have some of the features it has now that may have been included with the iPhone at launch?

Furthermore, did the very first phone have GPS on it? Nope. Does every phone now have GPS or even bluetooth? Nope. Does it really matter? Nope. Just making a point. Did the original buyers get screwed over non-subsidized pricing? Yup. Do some of the same people claiming that it cost too much themselves own various iPods and phones but fail to realize how ridiculous they sound? Yup. Is money and worth relative to each person? Yup. Is this post becoming ridiculously longwinded? Yup

It's obvious that the iPhone has many shortcomings to those of a Smartphone, but it was never advertised as such. When some come screaming that Windows Mobile already has this feature or that, good for them. The system has been out for eight years. The iPhone has been out for hardly one and is still managing to pump out new features based entirely on a touch interface, and that is impressive to me. And again, while it should have had most of this stuff when it came out, everyone knew [or should have known] that such features were not available. As such, it didn't come as a surprise to me so everything remains a bonus.

Apple may have released an "incomplete product" according to many of you, but are you not realizing why?

a) They get the product out to make anxious customers happy, making money WHILE they perfect the product.
b) They show off their firmware updates, revolutionary to cell phones, all of which have been appreciated by users.
c) They get user feedback regarding the interface/lacking features. Apple then implements positive changes and more people get wet over their product.

Pick them apart all you want. But my experience has been amazing. I've gone through two iPhones (from dropping them) and I literally walked into the store and they handed me two new ones, no questions asked. I have not paid for any phone-replacement-plans of any sort. Badass? Yes.

For example, if windows vista had changed the keyboard short-cuts for cut and paste to something else, a lot of people would be screaming even if it was easier and more functional to have them be something else.

So I think its more that they hadn't figured out what they wanted to commit as the method to do these various things.

Not just the Apple/Mac community, but also AT&T. Apple even delayed OS X so that they could put most of their efforts into this. My guess is that they couldn't just take the kitchen sink approach because it would seriously mess with their timetable.

My winmo 6 phone may not have the style and cool factor the iphone does (yes, mobile IE blows goats. Come on Skyfire beta 2 and firefox mobile), but all the basic functionality and much more was there right out of the box.

Not an Apple hater, just don't see why it's suppose to be manna from heaven when Apple decides to finally get around to finishing their product after the fact.

This is a feature I use all the time on my mobile. I can save photos from sites to my SD card and MMS them to others, or attach them to an email.

Why brag about a feature you have that you don't even use because you don't even want to use the browser that has the feature?

This is good news for iPhone/Safari users, who use a browser, despite (you have to admit) all its shortcomings, is the best fucking web browser for mobiles, period.

So before criticizing the lameness of iPhone/Safari for not having some basic functionality, why don't you talk about the lameness of other mobile browsers for not having the most important functionality -- the ability to browse the web with comfort, ease, and finesse?

Features will come and you will still have issues to be upset at... like every other freakin' device in existence. No device or software package is perfect, but the attitude is retarded. The iPhone will eventually have 3G and MMS. The other nit-pick items will come in some form or another, just cool your heels.
