Not only is the relatively thick webbing wedged between the screen and keyboard halves (adding what has to be undesirable pressure where none was meant to be) but the inches-across webbing would actually work as a fulcrum to open your laptop while in transit. What if small notebooks were designed specifically with straps in mind and were built with padded lids, bottoms, and corners. I'd actually move the strap to the front corners of the notebook rather than the rear so that the screen could be opened while the machine was still slung over the shoulder. I can't think of how many times I wanted to pull an address, phone number, or confirmation number off my notebook while I'm standing in the street, in a hotel lobby, or at the airport.
