My problem with SonOfMagicFact is that his information is completely wrong. Grifter's problem is that he is a douchebag trying to show off. Who is he trying to impress anyways? But just like most losers, they both cant take responsibility for their actions. They have to try and issue at least part of the blame to someone else so they dont have to admit that they are wrong. Lets just face it, the truth hurts, thats why they are trying to look like the good guy. Really, does it matter if anyone sides with them. Are they so insecure that they need someones approval?

vertibraker

The only reason I had originally posted was to simply to point out they had posted similar articles in the past. Then Vertibraker jacked the post. I'd always hoped that I was mature enough to not get sucked into a flame-war. I guess I was wrong.

I'm sure SonOfMagicFact appreciates you making fun of his Wenger watch. Insulting someone who defends you is such a good way for you to earn brownie points from him. He should be lucky you aren't defending him. I wonder how many insults you would land.

Your wife must really be upset. Not only do you insult her by trading away her gift, but you actually go for sausages. "By the way Jamstigator the Breitling watches (which I do wear) are about the same size width and can be worn on the arm quite nicely. You do, however, have to have a masculine arm I suppose to wear it." must be the worst comment ever written. Not only are you a douchebag by you hint at playing for the wrong team. I guess that is why you are so upset that you have to try and impress people with your fashion sense. Too bad you got rejected for QEFTSG. If your wife actually reads these comments of yours, she would know that your marriage is a sham and you are running sausage fever.

I really doubt you own more quality watches than me unless you count your Timex. My Breitling is the 2nd cheapest watch I own.

vertibraker

@vertibraker you are always shitting on people. You are probably 14 and you sit home playing with your Wii all day long. You are just upset because I called you out the other day because you insuled someone else (actually I didn't name you I just asked people not to insult anyone and you stuck your neck out and said "hey look at me! I am the idiot that insults people!".

I guarantee I own more quality watches, than you have purchased in your lifetime. Yes that includes the Hello Kitty watch you are wearing!

P.S. Thanks SonOfMagicFact. This guy was battling with you in fact the other day if I am not mistaken. I thought this was about watches and not about idiots... I guess we should just leave him alone with his Wanger (ah-hem) Wenger.

Grifter

You would be regarded as a troll just for that opinion alone as you are clearly trying to make a point that is incorrect. You should quit fooling yourself with ridiculous comments, your wenger cant even come close to what I have. As far as the HDDVD and Blu-ray goes, I never said that Blu-ray was not better. but at the time, take away the storage and base purely on the substance of the movies, hddvd had more substance. If you cant figure out that the argument I was making comparing the two was on movies and not which disc type was better, you wouldnt be an idiot. People like you with such a low intellect have only selective reasoning really makes you a troll.

vertibraker

@vertibraker: If you do indeed know as much about watches as it appears, you'll understand why it's worth so much: It's an ETA Valjoux 7750, with full chronometer certification. There's also a difference between the standard "Wenger" line and the now-defunct "Wenger GST" line. The GST line was Wenger's high-end. I don't really expect to find a Valjoux 7751 chronometer from Wenger's standard line. (It was used in the top-end Classic watch).

@Grifter:I'm not sure if you're joking at this point, so I'll simply say this: if you are joking, hehe. Very funny. If not, as an arguably well-educated watch aficionado (and I don't mean to self-aggrandize), I can tell you, if you are looking for a nice watch, and you're willing to spend somewhere in the 500 dollar range, Stauer is not the way to go. I'd suggest looking on [www.collectorstime.com], [www.watchseller.com], or [www.bernardwatch.com] All are highly reliable resellers. You'll get a very good watch for a very good price.

SonOfMagicFact

Guys, you've been showing watches with tourbillons for a long time now. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, you've already explained them before. Check out these links:

[gizmodo.com]
[gizmodo.com]

Well, there are others, but for some reason I can't find them.

The reason tourbillons are so expensive is the craftsmanship that goes into them. I haven't seen a single watch with even a mediocre tourbillon complication priced at less than 80,000 dollars.

People who buy these watches aren't buying them to be worn. They are bought to be displayed as collector's pieces and investment capital. They might wear them once, but more likely, they'll be locked in a vault, or displayed behind glass so they can be admired, but not damaged.

That being said, I wear a 2000 dollar Wenger GST Aquamaster chronograph. It's a dive-watch I received as a Bar-Mitzvah present all the way back in March of 2000. I've beat the crap out of this watch. And it's still ticking. Literally :D

Watches like the ones seen above are merely fantasies for me. I come from a comfortable background. Goodness knows we aren't rich, but I don't want for much. I view these watches, again, as simply art, and great mechanical achievements. Because of that, I feel the prices are completely justified.

Toodles!

SonOfMagicFact

Well Concord watches by themselves usually run a cool $8k without looking this cool. They are usually an old persons watch (IMO). But this is actually pretty shweet! I would say it wouldn't run too high past thier highest priced watches. Maybe in the 15k ballpark?

By the way Jamstigator the Breitling watches (which I do wear) are about the same size width and can be worn on the arm quite nicely. You do, however, have to have a masculine arm I suppose to wear it.

Grifter
