Wow and I thought the majority of people didn't use keys at all. (In the traditional sensr anyway) My can has Key scan. You know, walk close to your car and the doors unlock for you. My house was built in 1984 and it also has key scan.
So I'm thinking it's way too late to bring a product like that to market anyway. Send his key back to him, and close up shop!
Besides didn't someone make a similar product in the 70's where you put your keys in a flap of leather and then in your pocket? Or am I missing some amazing feature of this thing.

why does the article construe this as a negative? they're keeping his keys to send him the item once they get their kinks sorted out, and expect only whatever the customer thinks is appropriate payment.
i'm sure if you asked nicely for your keys back, they'd probably return those to you, too.

I'm surprised no one has said this yet, but they're going to keep his keys because they're also going to put them in a new fob and send them back to him. they're not keeping them, ya know, permanently. Or maybe everyone thinks that's too obvious to post and I'm being an idiot. Either way, sweet deal.

The intro made it sound like the company was totally screwing him, but that doesn't seem to be the case at all.
They are still going to send him what he paid for, but they're refunding his money because of the delays...

Yes, it's a huge hassle to have to wait so long, and they apparently understand that. Personally, while I'd be disappointed that it's taking so long, I would be surprised to see decency from such companies. Most would refund your money, give back your keys and tell you to go away. That's if they would even start giving refund for long waits. More commonly, most companies would keep your money and your keys for as long as it takes until they can get you a unit. I think that their gesture is a good one, and shows that some companies still have at least a little heart. The fact that they're going to give you a $300 keyfob (eventually) and tell you to pay what you think, is fair, rare, and amazing in today's marketplace.

Frankly, when I get my keyfob, I'll be giving them at least $100 (so long as it's up to quality par). Yes, I know it's a good sum of money for a little metal thing that holds keys, but it's a luxury item, and so it gets to be expensive if it wants to.
