@m-p{3}: It is woefully obvious that you are not familiar with VIA CPUs at all... the VIA c7-m in the HP Mini is pure shit.

The HP Mini 2133 is DEFINITELY NOT more powerful than the EEE.... even the EEE 701, which is underclocked @ 630 MHz on the 900 MHz Intel Celeron CPU, outperforms the 1.6 GHz VIA C7-m in the highest-end HP mini configuration. That's pretty damn pathetic.

If the HP didn't have such a shit-ass CPU I would have jumped all over it. Well, that and the large, ugly obese bezel that surrounds the HP mini's screen... two major design flaws in that device.

So at the launch of the 9-inch version they said it will be available in a ten-inch version. What kind of marketing strategy is this? "You know, you can buy this thing, but we'll have something better in a few months." I mean, it's like this in general, but you don't have to rub the customer's nose in it.

No, I think 9-10" is the ideal point. Smaller than that and it gets hard on your eyes and your hands for the keyboard. I mean, I've used the 5" U810 and it's not that great in the ergonomics department.

Supply and demand, economies of scale will bring the price down over time.

i was at a bestbuy in Mass the other day and couldnt find the ever so popular asus model that everyone has been snatching up. i did however, strangely enough, see that they toted at least one or two high end asus gaming models which were pretty snazzy looking if i do say so myself.

If they can manage to fit that 10-inches screen into the same form factor of the Eee 900, I say go for it.

However, I think the HP 2133 has a much nicer design, and seems to be more powerful than the Eee.

Is it possible to install a 2.5" SATA HD in an Eee PC or is the flash drive fixed into it? I like the Eee as it is now, just I'd like to put 320GB HD in there for storing lots of RAW photos on trips.

I'd rather they made a laptop with a 5.7" 4:3 screen and a case that was barely larger than that. And sold it for the original $200 mark. Maybe...maybe a laptop with two 5.7" screens and touch keyboard on the bottom, like an upsized deluxe DS...but no more! Sigh. People want big and small at the same time. I guess this will be solved when usable HUD arrive.
