(A) Is selling a product which we all believe is unsupported by the OS maker.
(B) Has changed their posted address three times starting with a home address.
(C) Whose credit card transaction process has been "troubled".
All of which screams SUSPICIOUS! So that's why it's a story.
So NO, I have no reason to bash or support this company.

Psystar is a company that so far has managed its affairs in a rather clumsy manner, and suffered the enthusiasm of bloggers (not just Gizmodo). I say enthusiasm and not antagonism because in all likelyhood, if Psystar can deliver, this entire affair will be one huge PR bonus for them. People who wouldn't have otherwise heard of Psystar have now read about it, and may even order an Open Computer in the future.
That is, if they come through.

Conceivably, however, it could all be one elaborate scheme to part some poor fools from their money. There are plenty of points in this affair that can be counted either way.
Just as you staunchly defended Psystar in your post, it's entirely viable to condemn Psystar for shady pracitices and poor choice in how to handle their going global.

Honestly, your coverage of this story has been HORRENDOUS. Let's see:

ASSERTION 1: You state that the company doesn't exist at a certain address. RESULT: They were moving and just put up a big sign saying they DO exist there.
GIZMODO WAS WRONG.
ASSERTION 2: This is a big scam and they are not legit. RESULT: I've called them and talked to several different people answering phones for over 30 minutes total. They showed no interest in stealing any of my information and instead vigorously defended their legitimacy and calmly described how they were moving. The fact that their phone number works and I get someone on the line immediately lends a lot of credence to their legitimacy. You contended that you couldn't contact anyone there and that the company didn't even exist (remember when you said they weren't registered with the chamber of commerce or BBB?) Well, the company DOES exist.

Now, I don't know if these guys are legit. Maybe they're not. But it seems like you ought to have some evidence that they're defrauding people before you smear their name.

You could be setting yourself up for a lawsuit otherwise.

Of course if they do turn out to be legit then you may have just given them thousands of dollars in free advertising... which I guess would make up for it.

There is also a possibility they're a startup and they didn't have any money to rent a space or build any computers, so they decided to take orders enough to pay for them to get started and they're just now trying to put the computers together. Maybe they built a prototype but have to order all the parts. Who knows. Not the most legitimate way to start a business if that's the case, but if they deliver the product in a reasonable amount of time, no harm done I suppose.

And for the most part, the people they dealt with knew what they were woking with and had some knowledge of them.

One of the downsides of the web, as opposed to face-to-face connections, is that with only a touch of skill, you can create a site that looks like you're a multi-million dollar company. Psystar's website looks like that of a large computer.

If they were honest and if they were smart, after their first outage, they would have put a notice on their website, explaining who they were, the size they were, that they were caught by surprise by the reaction but they were ramping up to handle it. Explain that yes, we are working out of a home for now, but we're almost ready to close on a deal for a business office and warehouse.

Yes, some would have said "I'm not going to invest with a startup", but others would have said "ah, startup problems, understood."
