Hello,

I am a returning reader and having purchased this product based on the review here, I wanted to return and provide my own customer review.

Once assembled the stand is extremely sturdy and has all the right cuts for all my gear. The finish is very nice (I believe I received the new upgraded version with nicer finish and square rounded center post) and it tucks neatly into the corner of my living room next to the entertainment system. I even took the creators suggestion and covered the stand with a nice table cloth and potted plant for when the family and I are not rockin out.

Overall I give this product two thumbs up!

Having read some of the comments here I see the usual naysaying and immature responses but wow @bobsolete!

I have to believe that if you want the fit finish and cheap particle board with hidden aluminum flush mount screws and "professional" wallpaper finishing of Ikea then you could probably go to Ikea and cobble something together out of their warehouse of throw away furniture. My advice to you:

READ about the product before purchasing, know what your getting into and ask questions if your not 100% comfortable with what your purchasing. The product I received met and exceeded my expectations.

I suspect its more likely though that your a competitor in this market, and you sell some cheap ebay guitar stand (your complaints are simply outrageous) and you'll be going back to your drawing board trying to figure out how to improve your cheap ebay guitar stand to be competitive with this product.

Good luck ... dude. :)

Yayger

I guess this is a great example of how you can't please everyone. I withdraw from this argument, it's silly.

I'm sorry you didn't like the product. Seeing as how you've done everything you can to attempt to disparage our good name, there's no amicable solution to be had.

I leave you with nothing but our metrics to speak for me:

Would you buy a product from someone who would write this ? (See below)

FIRST: I haven't called someone a DUDE for 20 years, who needs to grow up.

SECOND: In the pictures you hide the L -Brackets. I wonder why ?

THIRD: That no excuse, you shouldn't be selling this item then.

FORTH: Money back except $30+ dollars for shipping to and from. What a money back guarantee.

FROM DUDE THING CREATIONS

* (Editorial note - this question has only been asked once, but it offers a great opportunity to make some points) The stand looks like a high school shop project, I wasted my money, I hate you and I hate everything about you, I threw the stand in the trash, and will now hire a gypsy to put a hex on you and your family for generations!
o First off, grow up dude.
o Second, look at the pictures. That's what you're going to get. If you don't like the way it looks, don't buy it.
o Third, we're not professional carpenters. If you're expecting a masterpiece, you're in the wrong place. We do our best to ensure that every stand we ship is top quality, but your stand will not be flawless.
o Finally, if you don't like it after you've gotten it, send it back within 7 days (it doesn't have to get to us in 7 days, just be shipped within 7) and we'll refund your purchase price (but not the shipping).

Bobsolete

A question to the readers. Has anyone ever seen a commercially sold stand of any sort, that is held together with L brackets ? I haven't until now. It's a cheap way to make a stand, certainly more profitable for the seller.

Bobsolete

Funny there was paint between the separated layers of plywood. Thus the wood must of been painted after the wood had already separated. Quality control ?

It cost me $65 and 1 hour of my time to put this thing together.

What bothers me the most about this product is the 12 fully visible silver L brackets you have to attach. Your pictures hide them.

Bob,

As you rightly point out, the post was made today. We finished our prototyping of the new solution this past weekend, which is why I posted the update... today. You received your stand on May 8, long before we finished prototyping. So yes, you received the old stand.

As I mentioned in our private conversation, if you'd like to return your stand, I'll be happy to provide you with a refund.

kps9727

For the record, we offered to refund Bobsolete's purchase in accordance with the 7 day return policy for all stands that we sell.

Also for the record -

1) I'm open to suggestions as to what to hold it together with other than L-Brackets.

2) Plywood sometimes (very rarely) separates, that's why we offer a refund.

3) We use a paint system that is made from stainless steel (basically a really big air brush).

4) We have sold over 70 stands, and only 2 customers have been unhappy, with Bobsolete being one. The other received a full refund.

kps9727

They just posted this on there web site. BUYERS beware. I just received this piece of crap May 8, 2008. It's still the old design.

Monday, May 12, 2008
It's Hip To Be Square

One of the critiques that we had in the Gizmodo article about the Guitar Stand was that the center post on the Guitar Stand was round, and that made it difficult to screw the screws in straight. So we went back to the drawing board to see what we could come up with.

Before, we were using a 1 1/4 inch wooden dowel to serve as the center post. We experimented with a number of alternatives, but finally settled on taking a wooden stud (the same kind that houses are made from) and cutting it down to the correct size. We then round off the corners so it's pleasing to the touch, and paint it. So now each post has 4 flat sides into which the screws are screwed, removing the problem all together.

As an added bonus, the wood we're using is far more sturdy than the dowel we were using before, and while it takes a little longer for us to cut and prep it, we're way more satisfied with the result.

Bobsolete

Just received this stand, what a joke, it looks like someone's Jr. High School wood shop project. The whole thing is put together with silver L brackets. You can't see them in the picture because there covered up by guitars. It looks terrible. The plywood was separating, it wobbles, the thing looks like it was painted with flat black from a spray can, what more can I say. What a waste of money.

Bobsolete

I'm very familiar with "their" website because it's "my" website. If you took a moment to read instead of being snide, you'd discover for yourself that the drum stand is in fact "designed as a cabinet, with a closing door and either a shelf or pockets on said door for controllers/microphones".

So, she called me on the way home and told me to go to Bestbuy and get the game and two guitars. I never really like the idea of fake guitar playing, but I have to tell you, it got my wife into gaming, so its ok in my book. Further, it is actually a lot of fun, and for someone who doesn't have the time to learn to play a real guitar and also play video games, it works out as a great internal compromise.

zenpoet
