Oh but wait, I forgot... anecdotal evidence doesn't mean a damned thing.

Cold, hard numbers sure do, though. See, what's happening here is that a clear platform is emerging worldwide, and eventually, diversity in the library will increase, and there will be games on the Wii that you'll want to play. This is far from hype, it's a movement.

The Nintendo Wii...most overhyped thing ever. Everyone I know that has one has either 1.) Sold it 2.) Traded it in or 3.) Just doesn't play it.

Yes all the people I know also have and Xbox360, PS3 or are PC Gamers.

I myself have a Wii and never play the damn thing, might play Wii sports if some ladies want to play videogames (pretty rare), but they always have much more fun on Rockband anyways.

They're already moving crazy amounts of units, and with Mario Kart coming out over the weekend, I'm sure that doesn't hurt :c) Yeah, they definitely don't need a price cut on the Wii.. not yet anyway.

What they need to do is come up with an attachment that will allow me to use my Virtual Boy on the Wii. That's where the money is. Virtual Boy's Wii... huh... maybe that's not such a good idea.

I've seen Cubes retailing for $39.99 and the Gameboy player add-on for $9.99.

This was a few months a go however, but dirt cheap hardware!

The Wii doesn't really need a price cut, though. It's already at a very good price for a new console. I mean, isn't the gamecube still selling for about $100? At least, that was the price as long as they were still sold new, iirc. Besides, Nintendo makes profit with their consoles, cutting prices would be stupid. If they wanted to make it more enticing for consumers, they'd be better off giving away free Wii points.

also keep in mind they are effectively making less money all the time in the US because of the crappy falling US dollar. throwing in a price cut on top of that probably isn't even economically feasible.

Investors would be at Iwata's throat if Nintendo cut prices on their consoles.

Game companies are just like any other business, and if your product is already selling out all over the place, cutting prices is out of the question.

Besides, the Wii and DS are already priced lower than their Sony/MS counterparts.

I guess there are two reasons for that : 1) Demand is high. So why cut prices on something that sells itself even with a "high = normal" price.

2) They probably buy their components in YEN and not in USD. Which means that they loose money (or at least get less) due to the weak USD. So why loose more money then they already do.

this makes total sense. when you can't even keep the wii on the store shelves here in the US, why would you discount your prices at all?
