It's not unlike the way big commercial dishwashers work. They have a big metal box that drops down over the rack to wash dishes.
Still, this is impractical for lots of reasons, although in my experience, stylish gals from Montreal rarely have to be very practical.

It looks like it has internal sectional walls, so it doesn't move in a slow continuous motion, it slides from section to section, sealing off each section entirely, running through a full cycle, and not soaking your kitchen.

This allows you to continue putting dishes into your washer, even while you it is cleaning some of them.

Plus, it allows for low energy, low water cycles if you only need to wash 3-4 dishes.

Totally talking out of my earhole, but that's what I've decided is going on here.

As for the "spirit level" quip, MoCo, haven't you ever heard of lens distortion? This photo was shot with a wide-angle lens (considerably more spherical then a standard 50mm.) You can fix the distortion in Gimp/Photoshop/Aperture/etc and find its as straight as a razor.
