However, using panels across the moon to harvest solar power for Earthly pastimes (which would also signal the existence of life to the occasional alien pointing its scopes in our direction) seems a much better allocation of resources. Really, power stations on the moon provides something for everybody: solar power harvested from a moon base for energy needs today (no Kennedy clan to complain about giant windmills blocking their views), and a beacon to future aliens interested in colonizing our planet and developing a novel cuisine ("How to Serve Man").
