we had a midnight showing when it came out and the entire theatre vomited in their seats, it was the beginning of the death slide of the Batman franchise until the had to resurrect it with a re-envisioning with Bale as Batman.

Ang Lee's Hulk 6 outa 10 (honestly terrible choice of Villain and the story, ugh needs a re-write)

Batman 1 7 outa 10 (was a 10-10 in its day, lost it appeal when the franchise turned into dog vomit)

X-Men series 8 outa 10 ( good Casting, good stories, but they crammed 30 years of comic history down our throats putting the x-men franchise to bed, before its time)

Superman 1 7 outa 10 (Again a great film in its day, but Margot Kidder! as Lois Lane, I think of Throat Cancer when I see her and for gods sake what is with the whole Real estate Lex Luthor as a Villain shtick)

Superman Returns 8 outa 10 ( great re-envisioning of the franchise, great CGI and imagery, the story could use work, not enough action, again saving us from Mad Real estate moguls, some one really hates Donald Trump)

BatMan Begins 9 outa 10 (great movie, out did the original)

Mystery Men 7 outa 10 ( enjoyable but apeared to be more of a spoof of the genre, as posted earlier ALT-HERO GENRE)

HELLBOY 7 outa 10 ( enjoyable still a little campy)

Spiderman series (like the Star Wars Franchise, the second film outshines the first and the third lowers the quality of the first 2)

FF4 6 on 10 (poor casting, poor story, bad acting)

DareDevil and Electra 1 outa 10 ( my god what were they thinking)

Nick Fury try reading the comics, they cast him long as the role in recent years and I think it is fan-fucking-tastic. and as for the story an extra 10-15 minutes of him kicking ass in the Middle-East destroying his weapons would have sufficed waiting for IM2 for IronMonger would have never happend as the film would have been a tad boring watching IM only have Al-queada types to beat on)

Listen Mystery Men was a good film and I like it (I watched it again this weekend)

however while a comic book movie it is a different genre of film, more of a alternative hero style comic, not at all like the Marvel and DC style universe.

come on! the "Spleen" thats funny but its no Iron Man.

as for those who did not like IM cause it did not have enough action, or good enough story.

I believe one of my "cow"orkers commented that "Transformers" had better action, I reminded her that
Transformers was great CGI and Megan Fox, and thats it.

and for a story......its a comic book on screen not "Pride and Prejudice" the story was great....for a comic book, at least Tony did not get all EMO on our asses a la SM3.

Also, everyone saying this is the best action movie ever, I am having flashbacks of the reaction all guys had the first time they saw Speed - after it soaked in and came to new release at the video store our opinions undoubtedly changed.

As far as Iron Man goes - the tone of the movie kept a good pace where it wasn't too over the top with constant action with no place to come up for air and at the same time did not have any spots where you were waiting for something to be over and have it move on already_

The CGI was second to none_ Integrated better than anything else I've seen in the past 10 years_ The first Pirates of the Carribean comes a close second in this regard as they meticulously integrated the CGI for each scene using several layers of techniques and methods_

Spiderman Trilogy makes me feel like I'm watching a cross between Beouwolf and Finding Nemo there was so much blatent CGI thru-out_ Fantastic 4 Duet - wasn't as bad - but very easy to point out the animated parts that were supposed to "look" real_

As for X-Men 3 and Superman Returns - I wish I had never seen these 2 films - they were that badly done and killed any warm and fuzzy feeling I ever had for the characters and surroundings_

If the idiots at Marvel make Spiderman 4 or Fantastic 4 part 3 in any manner like they did their precursors - sure as hell aren't getting my money_ Especially if they can not step up their own productions to match what they manged to accomplish with Iron Man_

Batman Begins rocked when it came out and am looking forward to the Dark Knight_ Begins is a good second place runner but it still has nothing on Iron Man_

Superman Returns just blew chunks all over the screen and I have no desire to see Ed Norton and Liv Tyler play Banner/ Hulk and Betty_ Liv Tyler has an acting career because of her daddy - otherwise she can't act her way out of a paperbag_ And I love Ed Norton and most all of the work he's done - but so far from what i've seen he doesn't fit the part_ David banner was a much better fit for the Banner role as was Jennifer Connelly as Betty_

X-Men 3 - both Fantastic 4 movies and all of the Spiderman movies sucked compared to this_ I like X-Men 1 and 2 but they also have nothing on this movie_

I hated all the Spiderman movies, X-men were ok, they did not try enough to push the mutant hating angle. Superman sucks as a movie character, cartoons are best for him.

Batman Begins is great for atmosphere but character wise I do not think the actors separate Bruce Wayne from Batman well unlike the cartoon. Bruce Wayne should not brood as much as he does in his movies, should be much more light hearted.

This is easily the best comic-book movie made, to date. The acting, the script, the effects, and the story... all of it just melded perfectly.

Now, let's hope the sequel doesn't suck and that, if they incorporate WarMachine, he doesn't end up with Robin-syndrome.

I liked the Spider-man movies (1 and 2), but I still have this gnawing disappointment about them. Can't pinpoint it. But they just weren't as good as they could have been.

And if you haven't seen Iron Man yet, make sure you sit through the ENTIRE credits at the end (as has been mentioned previously).

It is all well ballanced, nothing is overdone, it all runs naturaly with a smooth eb and flow of an ocean. It could easily have been spoinlt by too much dialouge, too much rock music, too much comedy, too much sex, too much of everthing......but the writers, director and crew kept it all in place. Steady and interesting all the way through.

So, i'd say this is a new benchmark of how an excellent superhero movie should be made. Not to take away from the others of course, like Batman Begins, Superman Returns, and Spiderman. They all fit well in their own contexts and each movie made has to be made for itself, its the operative elements that help convey a good story that should be done well and that is what Iron man has.

Robert was very very good, he wasnt wodden like Ben Affleck in Daredevil. He took on the role with his own qualities and brought it accross naturally without any aversion to the fantastical role, a sign of a fine flexible performer.

It has been a while sine ive seen a superhero movie and felt a strong urge to watch it again just for the fun of it.

Superman - great
Batman Begins - great
Transformers - had potential, but became awful from the midpoint.
Dardevil - could have been good, but bad casting and writing
Hulk - good, but needed more better human acting.
Spiderman - fine stuff, but part 2 was the best is of the series for me so far.
Hellboy - fine
X-MEN - Good
IRON MAN - 98% Perfect. 2% is for the sake of the other superhero movies that that were great, but not had elements in it that missed the point.

So please this is a superhero movie, not schindler's list, el cid, or even pan's labyrinth. its a fun, flight of fantasy for those that followed the comics or those that just like this sort of thing.

Go watch it, sit back and enjoy the beautiful work done. A fine reason to not pirate.

This movie is really, really good, best superhero movie ever, even if Tony Stark isn't a superhero.

The suits are a thing of beauty. The operating systems and interfaces on them and the stark industries pcs (more the suits, less the PCs) were dead sexy.

This movie was almost perfect - the pacing, storyline, dialog, acting, effects. Took some very long storylines from the comics and wrapped them into a single movie very nicely - better than the comics IMO. And RDJr was superb - I am now a fan.

My new favorite super-hero movie - even better than Rocketeer or Spiderman I or Batman Begins or Superman.

I think Stark is a better character than Peter Parker, but I think the plot was boring. I liked the beginning and the development very much, but the culmination in the battle with the old guy in the big suit was anticlimactic, and kinda dull IMO.

The ending, however, was the best ending of ANY movie I have ever seen other than "The Mist."

Logically, I should care less about this movie, so why am I so drawn to it? I'm not sure what it is, but there's something about it that makes me want to see it. Usually my wife (a comic book geek,) drags me to superhero movies, and I only go because of her.

But there is something about this movie that makes me think I may be dragging her to it if she waits too long.

So in my eyes, this is the best superhero movie ever.
