The real estate in Mumbai is one of the most expensive in the World. Just because Ambani decided to buy a land and construct 4,00,000 sq ft of house on it, doesnt make the house worth 400,000 *

27 FLOORS:

According to the plan, the house will rise to a height of 173.12 meters, equivalent to that of a regular 60-storeyed residential building . However, Antilia will have only 27 storeys in all.

SIX FLOORS FOR PARKING:

The first six floors will be reserved for parking alone, and that too for cars belonging only to Mukesh's family. Space for a total of 168 imported cars has been earmarked here.

ENTERTAINMENT FLOOR:

The eighth floor will have an entertainment centre comprising a mini-theatre.

BALCONIES WITH GARDENS:

The rooftop of the mini-theatre will serve as a garden, and immediately above that, three more balconies with terrace gardens.

THE HEALTH FLOORS:

While the ninth floor will have a 'refuge' floor - meant to be used for rescue in emergencies - two floors above that will be set aside for health. It will have facilities for athletics and a swimming pool, while the other will have a health club.

FOR GUESTS:

There will be a two-storeyed glass-fronted apartment for the Ambani family's guests above the health floors.

FAMILY:

The four floors at the top, that will provide a view of the Arabian Sea and a superb view of the city's skyline, will be for Mukesh, his wife Neeta, their three kids and Mukesh's mother Kokilaben.

AIR SPACE FLOOR:

Two floors above the family's residence will be set aside as maintenance areas, and on top of that will be an 'air space floor,' which will act as a control room for helicopters landing on the helipad above. There will be three helipads there.

STAFF:

Nearly 600 staffers are expected to work in the building.

$2 billion a lot of money by American standards and even mre by our modest Indian standards. With all that money,Ambani could have run the entire Indian government's food for work programme.

I remember his speech during the convocation of my seniors. He had said "Amiri badhao" (increase wealth), a play on the popular slogan "garibi hatao" (remove poverty) popularized after independence.He was cheered furiuosly by the crowd.

Its sad to see the stark rich poor divide in India. I work in Bandra Kurla Complex, one of India's most expensive comemercial areas. The massive buildings are clad in glass and air conditioned. however, I have to pass through a slum to reach it. The seventh floor of my office has a fancy garden and pool in it. The view you get is of lines of lines of small huts.

I go to a mall and spend $10 on a sumptuous lunch, but the street urchins outside don't even make that much money in a day.

Living in India is seriously depressing, atleast for me.

I think someone here hit it on the head when the said that Reliance Industries was an unsocial unethical piece of monkey crap. So tell me... Do you honestly think it's chairman/majority shareholder is going to be any different.

I actually read an article in Condé Nast Portfolio Magazine about his arrogance and his ability to hoard money. See, its not the arrogance part that gets me... Its fact that hes runs around talking about how he's the fifth richest and what not. When in reality, had Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, and the top others chose to hoard every penny they've ever made, Mukesh Ambani would have been knocked off the charts.

The way I see it, man lays out his own plans for his life, but it is God who decides on what is to come. It would be a shame if he finished building this big house and he didn't even get to spend a day in it.

He's made up his mind on what to do with his money. No point in arguing over whether its justified or not.

Whatever the case...
May it bring him the piece of mind and comfort that is in search of by building such a monstrosity.

It's all crap, This house could have been built anywhere and Mukesh Ambani is no fool.

And for everyone green with envy. The Ambani family is a rags to riches story. They (father, mother and the two ambani sons) lived in a slum. eventually the brothers got to Stanford & Wharton and some other school I can't remember, while their father was creating a gigantic petrochemical empire out of their first company which used to make polyester textiles...

The brothers split the businesses a couple of years ago. The younger brother Anil. is also right up there in the rich list, closely dogging the older brother.

Anyway, Reliance is known to treat people well i.e. employees and shareholders (and there are literally millions of average Indians who hold reliance stock), so I don't see any lack of popularity. when u r that rich there is no end to critics

Is the house a waste of money? Yes absolutely. But when u r that rich, you can do pretty much what u want.
