We're not getting all the information on how it's supposed to be properly used. I imagine you wear this after intensive warmups, an hour before competition, but keep doing the warmup drills while wearing the vest. Warmed up muscles that remain active won't cool down to a pre-warmup state if done this way. I seriously doubt it's meant to be used while sitting around for an hour before competition.

Like you said, "There's not any rules that limit how hot or cold you want to be before your race." What works for you may not work for everybody. No two people are exactly the same.

The marathoners want nothing to do with extra weight during their race, especially in water they can't drink, and especially in cold water that's messing with your core temp.
All they want is a small swig of water every couple miles, maybe an electrolyte gel, and they're set. Believe me. Running's gotten this far without this thing, and trust me, it'll go a lot farther if this thing stays away from distance running.

Seriously, in the 5+ hours of downtime our team can have before our race, we play water poker and any other hydrating game we can think of. You lose a hand, you chug.
We end up basically having to pee every 15 minutes leading up to our race.

Seriously, if you're hydrated well, your urine should look like water. And that takes a few hours to do, so don't think you can show up, chug a gallon of water an hour before your race, and be good. Hydrating is a day, if not longer, process.

I'm a huge XC/Track guy, and I can guarantee you I run 500% better when I'm sweating pretty good before a race than if I were to be cold.
It feels so much better hitting race pace right off the line and being warm than being cold, and spending half the race trying to warm up to go.

I can tell you from my distance running POV that this thing is totally useless.

Cold muscles=easy to pull muscles

Also, no cheating here. There's not any rules that limit how hot or cold you want to be before your race, provided you're not breaking any other rules in the process.

You soak down the jacket, and it aids in cooling through evaporation. When its race time, you lose the jacket and just have the singlet.
