@frigg: For your convenience, here is the fuzzy-bellied little fella I believe you wanted to have show up next to your arrow.

I had a LOT of trouble initially getting the "add an image/video" thing to work until I hit upon a totally voodoo solution. Here it is:

(1) If it is not already on, turn on the "preview comment" option (check box at bottom left of commenting pane). Do NOT yet enter ANY text into the commenting pane.

(2) Copy/paste the image's URL into the completely empty commenting pane. You should see the yellow text related to the image's link appear in the preview of your comment, but possibly NOT yet see the photo itself (I have no idea why).

(3) In the comments pane, position your cursor at the very beginning of the URL you just pasted, before the very first character. Hit your "return" key. Wait a moment or two. Did the image itself appear mysteriously? If "yes", continue on, editing/adding text as desired. If "no", delete the entire entry, reload the page and try this same sequence again.

For me, that bit of crazy two-stepping has been the ONLY way I've been able to get photos or videos to appear consistently (if at all). HTH.

This thing looks a lot safer than the regular hamster balls from my childhood. I had my hamster in one of those things and let it roll around the living room. One of my parent's friends thought I was playing with a regular ball and kicked it across the room to me. The hamster was a little dazed but OK. The worse part about all these enclosed hamster modes of transportation is that they make inside of them and then it swishes all around and onto them as they roll the thing around. Gross.

@bosskev: That's really the tragedy of these stories about hamster-propelled vehicles. In the end, it's all about the Hamster. And yet, how soon we forget... It's like as a society we loose sight of the hamsters at the core of their self-propelled mini-cars. At least I think it's a cultural thing, although maybe it's worse than that. Maybe some deep dark corner of our own human nature compels us to look away, to avoid the hamsteral reality of the device, to de-hamsterfy it so to speak, to think of it as... less than hamster.

Thank you, bosskev, for reminding me to embrace my own inner hamster, and to share all that is hamster-like about myself with everyone else, and with hamsters. I promise you: every year, on this day, I will take time out of my own all-too-human life, and spend a moment thinking about the hamsters.

We all should, really. And if I don't remember, I'll at least remember to remind you to remind me to remember. To remember the hamsters. Remember, it's all about the hamsters. Hamsters. Yes. Hamsters. At the end of the day, after all, isn't hamsters what it's all about?

With all the commentary about "this is an old/new/I've seen it/I've not seen it story", I have to say my concern stays focused on the hamster. Watching the video, I couldn't tell if the little guy was having the time of his life or was instead terrified out of his tiny coffin-captured mind.

I grow weary of the 'I've been there and done that' crowd. Whenever I see something here that I've seen before I cringe at the thought of the first pointless cynical comment about it. What we should have seen is a grammar nazi post about the word A vs An.

Yes, I saw these as a kid because I had a pet gerbil. Did I watch the video? Yes. Did I think it was funny to watch? Of course. Did I come here to rip on people for posting it-- especially when they themselves started out the article with said disclaimer? No.

Is this an article about a hamster in a wheel? Yes.

This site needs a Digg It system for posters. Any one that posts a comment with "I saw this..." or "This has been around since..." will lose ten points and will be forbidden from typing "Yet another iClone" for the rest of their natural and eventually cybernetic lives.

Moody rant of the day. I just became 'that guy'. I now pass the torch to the next cynical commentor to comment about my cynical comment about other cynical commentors.
