Red, white, and blue is common. Some go for neon colors to stand out. And I've even seen one with scenes from the owners Vietnam experiences that could move a man to tears.

Guns are quite frequently art. I'm not just talking about $80K bespoke double shotguns, either. There are plenty of guns of all prices that are just gorgeous - at least to their owners.

I find it oddly disturbing that someone would do up an RPG in gold, stencil "Chanel" on the side, and call it art. The decoration does not enhance or pay tribute to the function, so the combination of the tool and this particular ornamentation is jarring.

Thus, I don't get the "deeper political message." Well, actually, I *do* get it. I just think it's damn clumsy the way this artist is going about it. He's not treating his canvas (the weapons) with the proper respect, thus undermining his message.

I grant that only a gun lover could make that statement so I've donned my Nomex; flame away.
