World Youth Day was something that he came up with as a way for the Catholic Church to give those teens a way to have unity with the other Catholic teens around the world.

The current Pope is not young by any stretch but he is younger than the previous Pope and does most likely understand the internet as well as texting and things like that. His recent appearances in the U.S. were much more vibrant that the recent visits from the previous Pope.

World Youth Day is a Catholic event. I went in 2002 when it was in Toronto. It was pretty fun and is geared towards Catholic Youth (apparently youth in most countries means people 20-35). It happens every four years and is a pretty huge event. Usually over a million people show up and there are Masses and social functions and even huge service projects.
