1) it doesn't nav if you're on the phone - oops, you missed your turn!
2) it can be painfully slow to download the next bit of information. Not good when you're cruisin' looking for that turn to get to an appointment, and you're late.

]]> <![CDATA[VZ Navigator Update with Traffic Avoidance and 3D View Now Available]]> I've been using 4.0 for a week now and the traffic service is not as great as you might expect. Traffic announcements are often inaccurate and/or exaggerated.

There is a clever little traffic bar at the bottom of the screen now with green, yellow and red, indicating the appropriate traffic level, however it is more than often wrong. There are settings if you want the traffic info to affect your route, or just to be prompted, but either way, it doesn't accurately re-route you for the noted congestion.

The 3-D map views are cool but are you really going to harness all that added aesthetic and so called advanced convenience on a 2 inch cell phone screen?

Most of the time I just use the voice prompts and occasionally glance at the phone sitting right under my car's radio. The VZ navigator is not a true GPS and therefore cannot harness the graphical accuracy of satelite based Navigation devices. It's a bare bones, point A to B application that does what its suppose to do, and that's what I like about it.

Verizon doesn't need to add too many bells and whistles for it to sell.... at least the upgrade was free. I'm still a little upset that my upgrade wasn't as useful as I had hoped.
