It's like a Bill Nye campfire! Make Magazine rips apart a can of Wolfgang Puck auto-heating coffee to see what makes it magically heat up.

In short, Make has discovered that a combination of calcium oxide powder and water heats a can of over-priced espresso to 145 degrees in six minutes. Once activated a small container of water drips into a big vat of calcium oxide creating an exothermic chemical reaction in the bottom of the container, heating the canned beverage above. Don t deny it, you trendy espresso drinker, science is cool!
