Sony is upgrading three different lines of their notebooks. They are sounding pretty damn sexy so far. These updates are slated to be available in the coming months.
Full dirt after the jump.
This A500 series laptop is a powerhouse machine, good for people doing high-end computer work and wanting a desktop replacement. Highlighting this machine is the Pentium M 760 processor clocking in at 2GHz, a full gigabyte of DDR2 SDRAM and even a 120 GB SATA hard drive, yes SATA in a laptop. This lappy also features a 17" widescreen WXGA+ screen being powered by a 256 MB Radeon x600 with resolutions up to 1440 x 900.
What's that Timmy? Yes, there's more!? The A517S model even features a media center dock. The dock offers a TV tuner and MPEG encoder. Don t forget the dual layer DVD burner.
The S5 series is a lot like its older brother, the A500 series. The S5 series focus's on being a more mobile, yet still powerful. This laptop features a 13.3" WXGA screen while only weighing in at just over four pounds. A Pentium M 770 processor, one gigabyte of DDR2 memory, dual-layer DVD burner and 120 GB SATA hard drive are all powering this miniscule beast.
This could be considered somewhat of the lower-end model of the new Sony releases, but it still packs quite a punch. A range of processors are available from the Pentium M 380 to the M 750, also there is the option for 80 to 120 GB hard disks. Like the A-500 series there is also an optional media center dock for one of the models. The 15.4" screen is powered by either integrated Intel graphics or the NVIDIA 6400 with 128 MB. This machine weighs in just over six pounds.
