Vodafone got a taste of Japan today when mobile phone vending kiosks were unveiled in Manchester in the UK. Vodafone's Quickfone kiosks were installed in all company stores, so don't go looking around your local market for these just yet. as it's just a pilot to see how consumers react. If the response is good however, you could see them in the underground, and at terminals and malls around the country. The kiosks dispense a variety of prepaid mobile phones and SIM cards to customers and when stock runs low, the kiosk will alert Vodafone so it can be restocked immediately. Cheeky!
