It should make you all warm and happy inside knowing that RIM is watching your back, just in case this NTP thing shuts its Blackberry service down in the US. Seems a new software update has been announced, called BlackBerry Multi-Mode Edition, that will basically change the way the message delivery system works without being visible to the user.
You will, however, have to install a software update, but there should be no changes in the way your Blackberry works, nor will Service providers and system administrators see any changes in service or administration. And application developers won't have to change existing Java applications, so it's all nice and simple.
Let's just hope we never have to test this out. [Thanks, Matt]
