Now your GPS can be amphibious, with the Garmin GPSMAP 378 and GPSMAP 478, which the company says are the first portable GPS devices loaded with land and sea data. If you spring for the optional antenna ($249.99), each can also be loaded with XM Satellite services, for music and graphic weather capabilities, which would come in handy for boating on the high seas or driving among the snowy mountain tops.

Even if you're not out in the ocean, there are more than 3200 lakes loaded with 10-meter resolution, where you can even see the depth of a lot of those lakes. Each device will ship in May for $1200.
