When does portable cease to mean "able to be easily carried or moved"? Bluedot takes us once step closer to finding out with its BDP-1200, a portable DVD player that features a 12-inch screen and weighs 3.5 lbs. Beyond the 800 x 400 pixel resolution screen, the BDP-1200 is your typical portable DVD player. That said, it does have an SD card slot (as well as MMC and Memory Stick slots), a USB port for connecting USB drives loaded with your favorite audio/video content. It plays back a number of different formats as well, including MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 SP, DivX, XviD, JPEG and MP3, making it quite attractive to those people who enjoy all those great scene relases. There's also composite, S-video and component video output, in case you ever wanted to output your media to a bigger, higher resolution monitor. Battery life isn't too bad, lasting about three hours playing back a DVD with the LCD on and five hours without. Expect to see the BDP-1200 (in Japan) for the equivalent of $510.
