Roughly a week ahead of the Windows Phone 8 launch on October 29th, AT&T and Best Buy have put out some pricing details on the new Lumia 920 and the HTC 8X via the Best Buy website: $149 for the Lumia and $99 for the 8X. And pre-orders are open now.

The update was caught by wpcental and the prices listed above—naturally—are with a 2-year contract. Without one, both phones will run you $600. At the moment, the Lumia wins color-wise, with options of white, black, red, yellow, and cyan whereas the HTC 8x is currently listed as coming in purple and...purple.

There's no word on when the handsets will actually ship; the site just states they'll ship "when available." Chances are, that date will come out during the October 29th Windows Phone 8 launch, which is dueling with Googles new Android news, rumored to boast a new Nexus phone. [wpcentral via The Verge]

Hypocrisy doesn’t make me wrong

I really want a Windows 8 phone and I really like the hardware in both the 920 and 8X, but does anyone know what the status of the app library for Windows 8 is?

I've already endured both the early stages of Android and the dying stages of RIM and I don't want to do that again!
