Woman Gives Birth In the Back of a NYC Taxi

A woman gave birth last night in the back of a New York City taxi. It's not the first time this has happened, but a videographer filmed it all—from the moment the emergency service people got the baby out to the time they all got the hospital.

I've to admit it got me all teary.

Watching this makes me realize how fortunate we are to live in a place where emergency services can come to the rescue so fast. New York's Fire Department people are simply amazing.

The video was recorded by a photographer from the Occupy Wall Street movement, who happens to be the father of the creature:

It was a weekly video team meeting like any other that we'd had since September. That is, until my wife announced that she was having contractions. I'm a videographer with the Occupy movement and happened to have my camera with me. As soon as my hands were free I pulled it out and started shooting.

I'm not a fan of birth videos, but I'm a fan of this one for sure (and yes, it really made me teary, because I'm emo like that. NOW SHUT UP). [Thanks Adrian Chen!]

My wife is 9 months pregnant. Everybody tells me "don't worry, you'll have hours to make it to the hospital once the contractions start." I felt a little better. NOT ANYMORE.

I'm sure I'll be all kinds of crazy teary-eyed when he's born. Can't wait!!
