What's it do?
It's a fitness app that does everything but hold your hand when you work out. There's over 200 videos and 600,000 workout combinations focusing on the 8 muscle groups you select (abs, back, biceps, chest, forearms, legs, shoulders, triceps) so you'll always have something new to try. Before your work out, just tap on the muscle groups you're focusing on for the day and you'll see 5 videos of exercises you'll be doing for each group, cycle in and out to the next group for 5 more videos. The workouts are always changing to keep you fresh and on your toes.
Why do we like it?
It's all about the videos! Let's be honest, if you're a newb in the gym, it can be pretty intimidating—big beefy dudes, heavy clanging weights, all this machinery, cables and so on. But seeing the exercises in action simplifies things: see the reps, do your reps, get in shape. Also, automatically varying the exercises keeps your body from getting too used to the workouts. The videos aren't the best quality (it's only YouTube, after all) and the app isn't the most feature packed, but when you're working out you want something informative without being obtrusive and Gym Genie does just that.
