Don't underestimate a hill of beans. They may not amount to much on their own but in sufficiently large mounds, they can crush a man—to death.
56-year-old Raymond Segura Jr. was killed Thursday after he was buried under a 20-foot mound of pinto beans. The accident occurred at about 11:30am in a warehouse in Brush, Colorado belonging to the Kelley Bean Company. Emergency crews spent hours excavating beans in an attempt to reach Segura. "We moved several tons of beans to get to him," Morgan County Undersheriff Dave Martin told Reuters. There's no word yet on what caused the accident or the exact cause of death but authorities are still investigating. [Reuters viaMSNBC]
