It's unoriginal and primarily limited to Europe at this point, but a new pay-us-or-we'll-shut-you-down malware scheme is afoot, telling users that their IP was associated with child porn or some other such awfulness and locking up your system until you've paid a $80 "fine." Surprise! It's a trick, the malware's still there. Don't click dumb things on the Internet! [Geek]
Detroit Area Walmart Sells iPad Cases with Legal Pads But No iPads in Them Because Detroit
Two iPad purchasers in the greater Detroit metropolitan area were disappointed to find that the boxes they thought held tablets in them actually held stupid legal pads instead, and now they're having trouble getting their money back. This sort of thing has happened before, and will continue to happen until Detroit gets its Robocop statue once and for all. [Fox]
The Unknown Proves Hacker Groups Are Running Out of Cool Hacker Group Names
The latest group of hackers hacking wildly in the night has decided to call themselves The Unknown. They've hit the Air Force, Harvard, and NASA's Glenn Research Center, and have said that they're White Hats interested primarily in security. All of which is great, but couldn't they have picked a name that didn't sound like a 70s gang parody.
