Yes, this is a great point. The Midwest used to be a hotbed of leftism a looooong time ago, and you can argue the Dems abandoning more direct labor platforms is part of the reason the GOP was able to pivot to culture war issues and scoop them up.

This is an interesting point & worth noting. I almost *never* go to the grocery store to get just a couple things—it’s a weekly shopping stop.
