Call For Photos: iPhone 3G Campers Around the World

iPhone 3G Campers. Devoted fans or masochistic screwballs? We don't have the answer, but we don't have enough evidence yet. That's where you come in. We want you to send in pictures of the first person in line at Apple stores and cellphone stores around the world so we can see just what kind of testicular fortitude it takes to sit in the cold for two days just for a phone. And yes, testicular, because women aren't stupid enough to do this. At least, not unless someone drags them there. Send all photos to tips@gizmodo.com with the subject "iPhone Camper Photos". Above, you can see the flagship Apple store in Tokyo. Thanks, Jamandru!

Who in their right mind is going to get in line for a 3G iPhone on opening day? Nothing against the phone, but do you remember what activation was like with the first iPhone? Bogged down to a crawl once the entire country tried to activate simultaneously. Unlike last time, we can't walk out of the store without an activated phone. So guess what, any delays with activation means you'll be spending time in the store instead of at home watching TV. I could see standing in line for the first phone, just a short swipe of the plastic and your on your way out the door. But I'll be very surprised if activation doesn't have delays similar to when the first phone came out. Oh, and this time it's not just the country, but the whole world that will all be trying to activate on the same 24-hour period.
