Tools are expensive, but so is having to replace your rolling tool chest, because you misplaced its key in your workshop and had to physically cut the lock open. So Craftsman’s new Pro Series storage units feature Bluetooth-connected locks that can be opened and secured using an app—just don’t lose your smartphone.
Available this October in sizes ranging from 26- to 52-inches wide, the tool chests feature drawers that can each support up to 200 pounds, so you can load them up with tools without ever overloading them. Underneath the top lid is a larger compartment with a built-in six outlet power strip with two USB ports for charging tools or other electronics.
The Pro Series tool chests can still be secured and opened using a key. But through a free accompanying smartphone app, you can also set up a proximity lock so that it will only open when your phone is within a certain range. The chest can also be opened remotely using your phone if you want to give someone else access while you’re away. It can even let you know if it’s been tampered with, presumably through a built-in motion sensor.
Pricing details haven’t been revealed, but can you really put a price on the safety and security of your tools? Oh, right, Craftsman already has. They’re expensive, so you’ll definitely want to make sure they’re safe.
